What No One Thinks to Pack
March 12, 2026
From scissors to snacks, these are the wedding day items you’ll be so glad someone remembered. Here’s a checklist of the underrated essentials that make a big difference.
You’ve got the dress, the suit, and the rings, but it’s the little things no one talks about that can make or break your getting-ready experience. These overlooked items are ones I see people wish they had packed time and time again, so I made this guide so you don't have to learn the hard way. There's a downloadable version at the bottom of this article you can print and add to your prep bag, or pass it along to your maid of honor or best man. They’ll thank you later!
Unexpected Wedding Day Essentials to Bring:
- 1. Mini scissors
- For stray threads, tags, or packaging. You’d be surprised how often they’re needed.
- 2. Wooden hanger
- For your dress or your suit; a small detail that makes a big difference in your getting-ready photos. (I don't think anyone's a huge fan of a plastic hanger in the dress shot.)
- 3. Tide pen or stain wipes
- For those accidental champagne spills, lipstick smudges, or mustard from your turkey sandwich right before the first look (true story).
- 4. Breath mints or gum
- For all those close-up hugs and kisses.
- 5. Floss picks
- Especially if you’re snacking pre-ceremony or squeezing in a quick meal between photos.
- 6. Straws
- Helps protect lipstick and make-up if you’re sipping coffee or water.
- 7. Phone charger or portable battery
- For last-minute vendor calls, playlist changes, or cute behind-the-scenes selfies.
- 8. Granola bar or snack pack
- If you're not eating until cocktail hour, stash something small and sustaining in your kit.
- 9. Small mirror
- Perfect for makeup touch-ups when you're not near a bathroom.
- 10. Nail file & clippers
- Hangnails or chipped polish? Not today :)
- 11. Deodorant & perfume/cologne
- A fresh swipe or spritz can make you feel human again after dancing, crying, or sweating it out.
- 12. Bobby pins, safety pins, and fashion tape
- For those last minute fixes or to hold things in place. Trust me, this one almost always comes up!
